About Us

Mercenary Robotics (MERCS) is a dynamic team driven by Mathematics, Engineering, Robotics, and Community Service (M.E.R.C.S.). We proudly participate in the highly competitive First Robotics Challenge, First Tech Challenge and First Lego League. These exciting competitions not only highlight STEM expertise but also prioritize community outreach and engagement. We are a diverse community team, unaffiliated with any specific school, uniting members from five ISDs and seventeen different schools in the McKinney area, along with passionate homeschoolers. Regardless of your school origin, we value your contributions to our team and community, placing emphasis on talent and dedication over geography.

Being a community team, our funding primarily comes from corporate sponsorships, generous community contributions, and the support of our cherished friends and family. We greatly appreciate any assistance that helps us continue our journey of innovation and service.

OUR TEAMS

FRC TEAMS

Team 6369, our First Robotics Competition team, competes in an international high school robotics competition that combines the excitement of sports with the rigor of science and technology. Each year, teams of high school students from around the world design, build, and program robots to compete in a new game that is revealed at the beginning of the competition season.

Teams have six weeks to design and build their robots before competing in regional and district events for a chance to qualify for the World Championship. The competition is not just about building robots, but also about teamwork, communication, and innovation.

Throughout the competition season, Team 6369 also spreads awareness about STEAM education, inspiring themselves and other young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

FTC TEAMS

The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a program designed to introduce middle and high school students to the world of robotics and engineering. Teams compete at local and regional events, and the season culminates in a World Championship where teams from around the world come together to showcase their robots and compete for awards.

Our 5 FTC Teams, 17011, 18121, 20166, 20195, and 21743 are given an unique opportunity to develop their technical skills and gain real-world experience. Students get hands-on experience with engineering concepts such as mechanics, electronics, programming, and control systems, while also learning critical thinking and cooperation skills.

FLL TEAMS

The FIRST Lego League (FLL) is designed for elementary and middle school students to learn about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts in a fun and engaging way.

Each year, FLL teams are presented with a new challenge that is based on a real-world problem. The challenge includes a research project, as well as a robotics game, where teams build and program robots using LEGO MINDSTORMS technology to complete various missions on a playing field.

Our 5 FLL teams, 54586, 51620, 50491, 27183, and 27116 learn important skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and communication. They will compete in local and regional competitions and may be invited to the World Festival where teams from all around the world showcase their projects and compete for awards.
